Speaker 0 00:00:00 Hey, everybody. You're kicking it with the homeboys and the Homeboys podcast, where we talk everything in the world of real estate investing, whether you're just getting started or a seasoned vet, we're gonna give you over 40 years of combined real estate experience to help you on your investing journey. Today, we've got a very exciting topic, actually, we got some really awesome guests. We are talking with Grant and Rebecca Anderson, a husband and wife team that yes, work together, play together, and make investing work together, Speaker 1 00:00:34 And travel together and travel Speaker 2 00:00:37 Together. Speaker 0 00:00:37 We are very excited to have them in our studio today. Speaker 1 00:00:41 And these are, these are two, um, very experienced experts who work with one of the best, uh, real estate, uh, companies in the nation as far as training and facilitating investors to find investments in real estate. It's a very unique company that they're gonna share with you. So anyone out there on the fence, not really, uh, with a lot of experience, or if you do have a lot of experience, these are the folks that connect, the, the people that want real estate, that want to do it with the people who know how to do it and will do it for you. Speaker 0 00:01:17 So if you want to get started, this is the episode for people looking to get started. That's true. But anyhow, we're honored to have you guys here with us. How are you? Speaker 2 00:01:26 Great. Thanks for Speaker 1 00:01:27 Having us. Thank you. Yeah, we're happy to be here. Speaker 0 00:01:29 This is exciting. We, uh, we got to know you guys a little bit more over the last couple of months and getting to know your investing journey, and, uh, there's a lot of, uh, similarities that we have and, you know, we, we share kind of the same audience, so it's really awesome to have you guys in the studio with us today. Speaker 2 00:01:48 Yeah. Speaker 1 00:01:48 It's pretty, pretty interesting that you guys happen to live here in Indianapolis. <laugh>. So, real Wealth Network is based in California, run by, uh, Kathy and Rich Feki, um, very well known in our industry. Experts. Sometimes you'll see her on, uh, Fox News or other news channels. Um, she's pretty impressive. C, nbc, cnbc, cnbc, yeah. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Um, she's, she's, uh, I saw her, uh, debating with the case Scher Index people, uh, not long ago, which I found entertaining, but Absolutely. But it's a, it's a really unique company, but they're based outta California, yet. You guys are Indianapolis and you were, how did you find Real Wealth Network and how did you connect with them? Speaker 2 00:02:27 Um, yeah, so I started investing in real estate back in 2001 when I purchased my first house out in California. So I was living in Sacramento, California, uh, not too far away from their original headquarters in, in, um, the Bay area of mm-hmm. <affirmative> of California. That creek was on that creek was, yeah. And so I had met Kathy through, um, just her coming out and speaking, and kind of started following a little bit of real wealth, but I was kind of went my own path on finding investment properties and doing investments. Um, tra traditionally have done kind of every type of investing through, um, some wholesaling, some flips, buy and hold. My biggest thing is trying to do buy and hold. Um, that's the way to, to, to gain wealth over, over time. Um, you're, Speaker 1 00:03:19 You're preaching to the choir here on that <laugh> Speaker 2 00:03:22 <laugh>. So we started buying out in Sacramento, and, um, after, after a while when the, the prices started going up, we started looking at other markets and found Indianapolis and really enjoyed the, the market. It seemed like there was a lot of people moving here. Um, it just seemed like a really good market to start investing in as well. So we started investing out from OUTTA state, had some issues, um, with contractors, as you guys probably understand, you know, 2000 miles away trying to work with contractors. We Speaker 0 00:03:54 Could have a whole episode just on Speaker 3 00:03:56 Contractor Speaker 0 00:03:56 Nightmare stories. Absolutely. Speaker 2 00:03:59 Um, so then we decided, Hey, let's just pack up everything and move. So we moved out to Indianapolis, um, sold all of our properties out in Sacramento, did 10 31 exchanges, purchased properties in Indianapolis, and now pretty much we have all of our properties here in Indianapolis. Speaker 1 00:04:16 That's wild. So y you guys, uh, my understanding is you spend a lot of the year living out of a trailer, which you're about to hit the road again, which is, it, it ties into your job what you do for Real, real Wealth network. So, so what is it that you do for Real Wealth Network and tell us about that. How, how your living lifestyle That's very unique. <laugh>. Speaker 3 00:04:37 Well, we actually just got the RV about a year and a half ago, so it started off just kind of being something fun to go camping, different things, go see different places, and maybe trying to get away from the winter a little bit here, <laugh>. And that's, we, last year we were able to spend a month. Speaker 1 00:04:56 The weather sucks if you don't, if you're not from Indianapolis. And, and I'm sorry to get off on a tangent. This is a very Midwest thing to talk about the weather. It is <laugh>, but it's awful in the winter home Speaker 0 00:05:07 Of the worst weather in the country. Speaker 1 00:05:08 Yeah. It's awful. In the winter, freezing cold, and then in the summer it's humid and so hot. Like Florida is a break. So anyway, Speaker 3 00:05:15 Yes. It's a good thing. A lot of people still love to live here. Rights, right? That's right. Amen. Um, well, especially if you're from here, they love it. So Yes, Speaker 0 00:05:23 Yes. It's all I know. But then, you know, I go to other places and realize like, wow, there is a lot better weather. Speaker 2 00:05:30 <laugh>, you Speaker 0 00:05:31 Know, you get used to it. You we're like in this bubble, but Speaker 1 00:05:33 Like, but for raising a family, for real estate, for so many things, this is an amazing place. But yeah, the weather sucks. Speaker 3 00:05:41 Yeah. <laugh>, right? So we were just thinking, you know, get out and about a little bit in the RV at first yet we wanted to be more and more mobile and be able to be away from here, going to different places, traveling and both being in real estate. We, you know, had some teams already set up of some people that could help us out, but we were still thinking at there. I, I was thinking, I think there's another real estate opportunity of how can we use our knowledge and experience and there's just something else out there. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> that is for us. Yeah. And I just had this open heart in mind, praying for the opportunity and <laugh>, uh, randomly I saw the real wealth email that said, we need a property team manager. Yep. I clicked on it just outta curiosity, and as I was reading through it, I was like, this is like exactly what both of us would want to do. And we have the perfect experience and it wants us to travel and be remote and all these amazing things. <laugh>, I was like, this is Speaker 1 00:06:59 Perfect. Answered prayer. Ding, Speaker 3 00:07:00 Ding, ding. Amen. Yeah. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. So in that moment, I just, I actually, well, I spent a few days, but I wrote out this application that it just flowed outta me. <laugh> divine inspiration that explains, Speaker 1 00:07:12 It's not like a little one page thing. Oh, no. Speaker 3 00:07:15 Turned out at least 10 pages or so. I don't dunno exactly how long, but just saying, you know, you know this and this is what Speaker 1 00:07:21 We love. Honestly, it was, it was how much it was multiple pages. Speaker 3 00:07:24 Well, each time I tell the story, <laugh> Speaker 1 00:07:26 Right. It gross the bigger. Right. Speaker 3 00:07:28 I can't Speaker 1 00:07:29 Remember exactly you as long as 20 now. Yeah. But it was a very long letter. Yeah. Speaker 3 00:07:35 I mean, I, I rewrote our bios and, um, you know, just explained every key point, which, you know, as you ask like, what are some of the things that we do? So that leads, right. Well, I guess I'll <laugh> finish with the story about how we mm-hmm. <affirmative> got accepted and then we'll talk about how, what we do. But I, yeah, it submitted that. And then, um, Leah is one of the people at Real Wealth that we, you know, work with and she was like, okay, this looks great. And Speaker 1 00:08:06 Leah isn't always in front of the client. So a lot of real Wealth network people who are her listening may not have met her, but she's one of the people behind the scenes that really makes this thing work. Yeah. Her, there's a, there's an amazing team at Real Wealth Network and, and she's one of them just for folks who don't know who, who she's talking about. Speaker 3 00:08:23 Absolutely. Yeah. Definitely. And anyway, there ended up being multiple rounds of interviews and it took a few months actually, but Leah kept saying, yeah, we're doing this Yeah. <laugh>. And I'm like, yeah, we're doing this. And it was just a matter of getting the right fit because it was so unusual that I had suggested that both of us, yes. Speaker 1 00:08:42 Both of us take one Speaker 3 00:08:43 Position, right. The property team managers and, um, you know, just how to arrange that was all a huge sure thing to figure out. Speaker 1 00:08:52 And they asked for one person to apply instead of the Speaker 2 00:08:55 Two left. But, but I, I think they got, you know, the best of both worlds. Right. They got a really good, um, amount of, of knowledge because I have one set of skills. She has one set of skills, and the two of us together I think make our position great. Um, Speaker 0 00:09:12 I want to get into those skills here a little bit. We kind of started talking about Real Wealth Network and we can stay on that. I want to get back to that here a little bit later. Cause I think it's so awesome that the husband and wife team work so well together, like you guys. And I think that that could really be beneficial to our listeners because I think that when a husband and wife can, you know, really dive in and do it together, I think that's so Yeah. Really cool. And you guys still love one another <laugh>, you know, actually Speaker 2 00:09:39 Enjoy, but Speaker 0 00:09:40 Not around Speaker 1 00:09:40 One another. Not even careers wise, but investing, it's, uh, it's what a lot of people do outside and it's the one thing that a, a couple can do together. Yeah. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> and if it's done right and with, with a similar mind on, on what the goals are, it can be done together as a husband and wife outside of your both day jobs. So it's, I think people, this is a unique thing for people to listen to. Yeah. Speaker 0 00:10:02 But let's, we'll, we'll, we'll stay on Real Wealth Network because I think that there's so many people that listen to this podcast and listen to a lot of our content that just don't know how to get started. It's too overwhelming. So let's dive into exactly what Real Wealth Network does to bridge that gap for people investing in the world of real estate. Scotty and I know, cause we've Speaker 2 00:10:27 Worked, we've Speaker 0 00:10:27 Worked with Real Wealth Network now for 12, 12 years Speaker 1 00:10:31 I think so, Speaker 0 00:10:32 Um, and we are very blessed to have been part of, uh, part of that family. But we want our listeners to know, um, you know, why Scotty and I feel, feel this way because we know the, the phenomenal work that they do with people investing and, and helping achieve their, you know, their financial dreams. Speaker 3 00:10:50 Yeah. So any investor, I'll start and then, okay, we'll, anyone interested in investing can go to our website and you create an account and then you become access to this just incredible wealth of knowledge and information. And Speaker 1 00:11:06 It's real wealth.com. It Speaker 3 00:11:07 Is Real Wealth. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> and any of these, um, mem we call them the members mm-hmm. <affirmative> and any future investor or investor you're members now, and you can review all the videos and the other content that we have there. And there's also an availability to speak with an investment counselor for free. So we actually have Speaker 0 00:11:30 Stop the Madness Speaker 2 00:11:31 <laugh>. Speaker 0 00:11:32 She's not lying though. It is, it's truly, it's truly free. We live in a world where nothing is free now. You know, everything is is expensive and it's Speaker 1 00:11:41 Truly free. Yeah. And this is not some call center in, in India picking up the phone when you call. This is an experienced investment counselor who I believe all of them have tons of personal Yes, yes. Experience, but they have tons of experience helping clients at the very least. And they're folks that we've worked with forever. So these are true experts, counselors that we've worked with for over a decade. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. And so, so these are, when when you get a phone call answered at Real Wealth, you're going to be talking to a legitimate true investment counselor that knows what they're talking Speaker 2 00:12:13 About. Yeah. They've purchased from Real Wealth. Most of 'em, I think all of them have purchased many, many properties from Real Wealth. So they not only talk to investors about investing in the product, they're also investing themselves. They've got their money where their mouth is. Exactly. Absolutely. Speaker 1 00:12:29 It's more that they invest through Real Wealth Speaker 2 00:12:31 Invest through Yes. Sorry. Through Real Wealth. Yeah. Speaker 3 00:12:36 <laugh> Well, that's what I was gonna clarify. Yes. Speaker 2 00:12:38 Sorry. <laugh>. Speaker 3 00:12:39 But then, so exactly the, then you'll get paired up with any of our over a dozen markets that we have vetted and approved, and then you can learn all about the properties they have for sale and how to purchase them. And you'll ha be able to have real relationships with all these property teams, is what we call them. So the property teams include you guys, <laugh> and other providers that are turnkey operators and the market is like the city. Yeah. So it's like, we've got the Indianapolis market and you guys are the property team. So we have several of these all throughout the country. And our job is to foster the relationships that we have that's existing with our current teams and to bring on some new ones and to always be looking bedding, auditing, making sure that the properties are good, that the property teams have, um, appropriate operations, have, uh, good communication, have that, uh, property management component that is so vital to having your investment actually work long term. Speaker 2 00:13:57 And what a turnkey property is, is it's a property that is basically ready to be rented out right away. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Um, so we have some property teams that go in, like you guys do, do substantial rehabs, making sure the house is ready to be rented out. Um, that could include like making sure there's blinds in the house, um, making sure the furnaces are updated, or water heaters are updated, the roofs are updated. So basically you're getting a property that is ready to rent and shouldn't have any major issues or anything. I think Speaker 1 00:14:31 That's right away, part of what makes Real Wealth Network pretty unique is that they have the power be because of the size of, of your company and because of, uh, your subscriber base being so large that you've been able to create some, um, u some universal, uh, language. In fact you've even Yeah. Termed it, I think, um, that, that property providers across the country have to meet in order, provide your clients with, uh, a property. And, and before that came along, everybody had a different idea of what turnkey was. And so Real Wealth I know has spent years in trying to standardize that for clients. Yeah. And they've done Speaker 2 00:15:11 A called The Good Job, the Real Property Standards. Yeah. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. And, um, it just goes through each of the elements that you want to make sure are happening to the property. You know, um, you wanna make sure that water heaters are up to date, are working, um, roofs are not leaking, structures are good, things like that. Now, you do want to still do your own due diligence yourself to make sure that these things on the property teams are, are, um, handling it. We do vet the property teams, so we go visit the ties to see how they're doing, but obviously we all know in real estate, in in everything, there are some things that maybe slip through the cracks. So hopefully, you know, an inspector We'll, I think it's important we'll find it. Say, Speaker 0 00:15:58 I mean, you could send 10 inspectors into a place. Oh, they'll Speaker 2 00:16:02 Always find something. Speaker 0 00:16:02 It's gonna be a different list. I mean, it's gonna be, it's gonna be something, and I don't care if it's new construction or the last Nail is, is driven into the wall. You send an inspector and they're gonna find they're gonna find something. But, you know, with your property standards is meant to minimize that and truly, you know, be fighting for the real wealth members Yep. That you're in their corner helping them through this process. Yeah. And um, we, we talk about it on our podcast a lot, that if you're going to invest in real estate, make sure that you're getting in into a business with someone who has the experience, you know? Yeah. And mm-hmm. <affirmative>, I know that makes it tough for, uh, any affiliates that are wanting to get to be an affiliate that have only been doing it for a year. But we tell our listeners don't go into it with somebody that doesn't have the experience. Speaker 1 00:16:54 And one of the beauty beauties of Real Wealth Network is as they take a lot of that worry out of it for you, you know, because they've got this property team, which is YouTube Yep. Going out and vetting these. Now you don't move in with these folks and watch everything that they do. So again, buyer beware, but at the same time, um, it's a great way for someone who wants to own, uh, real estate across the country. Yeah. They can plug into the Real Wealth Network, know that you two are out there in your rv, <laugh> Speaker 2 00:17:22 <laugh> driving Speaker 1 00:17:23 From market to market, checking on these different providers. Yep. And, and so your plan is to grow that with more providers? Yeah. Speaker 2 00:17:32 So we do, we have also new construction, so it's turnkey and new construction mm-hmm. <affirmative> all throughout the United States and different markets, different, um, price points. So if you're looking for even a million dollar fourplex, we, we have builders or companies that have this, Speaker 1 00:17:52 We, we can help you if you want. There you go. Speaker 2 00:17:54 <laugh>, Speaker 4 00:17:55 Bing, Speaker 2 00:17:56 Ding. So we have a wide variety of different types of products and different areas. We're always in one of our jobs is to make sure that we're finding new areas that are, are areas that have growth potential. So we do kind of vet the actual market itself, not only the property team, but we wanna make sure that we're putting people into proper, um, cities and that have a growth potential. Cuz obviously one of the biggest things of real estate is, um, appreciation. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. So if you can have that appreciation as well. So we're looking at the markets, we're looking at the property teams, we're making sure that their product is a good product that we can, um, show to other investors. Yeah. Speaker 3 00:18:42 And it's not just new for the sake of new, we like the old Yeah. Too. Sure. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, whatever is working is what we're, what's important to us. And just to make sure that we're always re-looking at it and making sure that it is fresh. Especially the ones, you know, been around for a long time. We're, that's why we're so excited, um, to, you know, have the people who have, you know, been with us for so long. And I just want, that's why I wanna reiterate it's not just about new at all, new is just to help make sure that some of the, if there's old ones coming and going, that kind of thing, that we're always up to date and refreshed Speaker 1 00:19:16 And, and markets change markets at. They sure do. Yeah. We're very lucky here in Indianapolis. We, we, we understand that, that, that the numbers work here still. We've seen, we were just talking about this before the podcast, how we saw a lot of some markets come and go and it had nothing to do with the providers. Yeah. The markets became priced out and the returns no longer worked. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. So you guys are keeping it fresh. We're Speaker 3 00:19:37 Yeah. By making sure we're watching out Speaker 1 00:19:39 That you, you guys focus on the right markets. Speaker 2 00:19:41 Yeah. And we're keeping tabs on like the nation. What, where are they saying, you know, somebody Speaker 1 00:19:46 Needs to keep tabs on this nation, Speaker 2 00:19:47 What's going on in the real estate market? Like, where is the places that are have potential for growth? Cuz like you said, things change all the time. You know, one time it, one year it's this city, the next year it's another city. So we're always kind of looking at those to try and find the best cities that have those, those growth potentials and everything. And still maintaining the, the current properties that we have. Speaker 1 00:20:12 Sure. You've got some core providers that mm-hmm. <affirmative> in markets that have been stable and long lasting and, and provide great cash flow, but you're also out there looking at the neat new markets. Yeah. And, and I think it's a good balance that you guys, you guys seek out there. So you've have you enjoyed this new venture. I I guess it's not new. You've been doing this a while now with Real Wealth Network and you've been in real estate for much longer than even that. But have you enjoyed this so far? What are you looking forward to the most? Absolutely. Speaker 3 00:20:37 It's still new. Yeah. It's only like Speaker 2 00:20:38 Six months. It's been about just over six months now. So new. And, uh, I mean, I really enjoy it. One, I like the people who we get to talk to and, um, we, we hold a mastermind once a month for the property teams that come together and, you know, if people have issues, they, they talk about it and we talk about different ways to, to help, um, their business grow and then to get more product and everything out to our investors. So that's been really great just talking to everybody. Um, we're putting together some property tours that's gonna be coming out mm-hmm. Pretty soon mm-hmm. <affirmative>, um, all throughout the country. So being able to go and visit the property team, meet people, know, put a face to the name, you know, go through, um, their properties and see what they have to offer is gonna definitely be a benefit for anybody who is interested in, in investing. Speaker 1 00:21:29 And I believe our, we're, we're finalizing right now, but I, I believe we're gonna be one of the featured cities around April 15th, so stay tuned. We'll, we'll keep details on that, but we'll be hosting a Property tours and a visit to our office and that doesn't just include, if you're a current Real Wealth member, you can come and see what Real Wealth is all about at the same time and visit us at the same time. So Speaker 0 00:21:50 Can I get you to put on a clean shirt for one second? <laugh>? Yeah. Speaker 1 00:21:52 <laugh>. Do I have to wear like a sport coat or anything? Just a shirt? I might, I might trim the beer. Oh, Speaker 2 00:21:59 There you go. Speaker 0 00:22:01 Well, we'll, uh, we'll talk more about Real Wealth Network, but I, I do want to tell all our, all of our listeners, again, that's real wealth.com mm-hmm. <affirmative>, where they can find it, everyone, um, the property teams and you know, how to get connected with an investment counselor and how to get started Speaker 1 00:22:18 And the community there. I do want to touch on, there's a couple of things that, that Real Wealth is very great at. They're really good at building a community. So there, there's this hidden community behind the scenes that is these Wednesday, um, once a month, um, these property teams all come together and we share openly. I know that sounds crazy cuz we're quote unquote competitors with each other. But we are open book, it's a mastermind group and we all learn and we all improve and we all wanna, uh, give great service. But at the end of the day, the real Wealth community itself, which is you, if you join them, and again, it's free and I don't work for them, <laugh>. So you, you, you join if you want join. If you don't, I'm not trying to sell you on it, but I can tell you that the people who join Real Wealth Network, they ha it's a, it's a turbocharging of your knowledge, of your access to real estate across the country to groups that have been vetted. And there's a ton of information on that website. So even if you're not gonna join, I go tinker around in there and don't be scared to sign up. You can unsubscribe or Speaker 0 00:23:18 Whatever. I, you say that about competitors, but I mean, even for us, it's amazing, you know, the connections that Yeah. That Scotty and I have made through Real Wealth Network. I'll give you a grape for example. Scotty and I had three uh, properties in Cape Coral, Florida that we were renting out as vacation properties. And we were having a horrible time. Like our management team down there was just absolutely dreadful. And I could, could make a whole podcast about what this, what these crazy people were doing to us down there. But I was, I was complaining about what was Speaker 1 00:23:53 Doing you didn't like when they moved people into our houses and didn't tell us and Speaker 0 00:23:56 Kept the money, money and I gave it to us. It was bananas. You Speaker 2 00:23:59 Have a problem with that? Speaker 0 00:23:59 A problem with that. It said that we needed to give 30,000 for a pool and I gotta it fixed for $300. And there was, there was some serious problems. But anyhow, I was in the back of the room at a Real Wealth Network event, um, talking with, uh, one of your Florida teams and he's like, man, my, my sister does, uh, property management in Cape Coral, Florida. And I mean, it was like the most amazing experience. <laugh>, we switched to her and she was amazing. And like everything was just, uh, I mean it was just gift wrap to us once we got, once we got this young lady that was our property manager and it was came from being part of the Real Wealth network family. So just being in and you get to collaborate with other people and you get to know other people, it can open so many doors and it did for Scotty and I, you know, Speaker 2 00:24:50 It's kind of the abundance mentality, right. Just to me helping you, it doesn't seem, you know, it seems that's gonna help out yourself a lot as well. Right. And there's always enough deals out there for everybody to get what they want. Right. Maybe not a couple years ago it was hard to find things and there's always, and there's always, if you're doing, if Speaker 1 00:25:10 You are doing this right and you're in our side of the world, there is always enough. Yep. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Because if you provide good properties with good returns, you stand behind what you do. You can make a living at this. Yep. Period. So I don't want to hear, I don't care what the market is doing. We haven't been through every market cycle in the world, but we started in 1998, 2000, uh, one ish. And we've seen a lot of cycles. We've made it through the 2008, we made it through in the late nineties. There were some blips. So I don't want to hear here that you can do if as long as you provide good properties and your clients are looking for long-term cash flow and have realistic goals, there's plenty for everybody. Yeah. And, and there's plenty of room for new folks out there who haven't done this. Yep. To get into it. Speaker 2 00:25:57 Yep. Speaker 0 00:25:58 That's real wealth.com. Yep. And if you're looking to get started or you're a seasoned vet that's looking to turbocharge, you know, you're real estate investing life, please check it out. Yeah. I want to go back Speaker 3 00:26:10 Just right on that. We have a live virtual event coming up Oh yeah. In, uh, February 11th. Okay. So that's gonna be an all day event. We're actually gonna have Scott as one of the presenters. Oh, Scott. Okay. Speaker 2 00:26:26 Oh Speaker 0 00:26:27 Yeah. Just what I think they pull me back in Speaker 3 00:26:31 And all the teams are gonna be there showcasing their markets and their properties. And it's, it'll be just a, a really great way to kind of get immersed Speaker 0 00:26:40 In That's Speaker 3 00:26:41 Community like Speaker 1 00:26:42 You were Speaker 0 00:26:42 Saying. Gonna let me on the, uh, there Speaker 1 00:26:44 You go. Oh, okay. Every once in a while we let him out of his office. <laugh> <laugh>, you know, but what a cool event. So Yeah. It, it's a great way to learn too. If you're just kind of curious about real estate, you're gonna see presentations from all kinds of groups across the country doing different things in different ways and different perspectives and different products. So that's, that's a great way to dive in. Good. Absolut, you Speaker 0 00:27:05 Said that's February 11th? Speaker 1 00:27:06 11th. Speaker 2 00:27:06 I need to have That's on Saturday. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:27:08 Can you, can you take care of it? I'll, I'll take care of it. I'll get you calendar. We might bring back a actual live event in the summer, but that's, we'd love it. Speaking to Speaker 0 00:27:18 That is like, that Speaker 1 00:27:20 Is, I think a lot of people Speaker 0 00:27:21 Our wheelhouse. We, we love going And you guys used to have a lot of events in the Bay Area. Yep. And, um, Scotty and I are both big foodies. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. So we would, we would combine the Real Wealth Network events with just like this killer food tour. <laugh> Speaker 1 00:27:37 Every night was planned out. We, we were eating hang out with you. Speaker 2 00:27:41 Oh yeah. We're gonna, we're gonna follow you around the whole Speaker 1 00:27:44 Time. We know the spots. Speaker 0 00:27:45 We were in North Beach for Italian. Speaker 1 00:27:47 Oh. Friends. Friends Speaker 0 00:27:48 By night. Friends by night was the place Speaker 1 00:27:50 We'd be down fishing. I love North Beach. Yeah. We had our usual, our one night at Lio Toes Alioto's Speaker 0 00:27:57 We'd do, Speaker 1 00:27:57 Uh, are we talking about food again? I just wanna make sure. Speaker 0 00:28:01 But yeah, those live events are awesome. Um, you know, if you go to Real Wealth Network, you know, pay attention. Yeah. If you can ever go to a live event, do it. I want to dive into you guys being husband. Oh, you can. And, and wife investors because I, I don't know that I've been, uh, the best at bringing my wife into our business and you know, we kinda keep that, Speaker 1 00:28:22 Why would she want to <laugh> separate? You Speaker 0 00:28:24 Know? I don't know. I mean, we, we have 3,500 tenants. I mean, who wants to Right. Speaker 1 00:28:28 That's what I mean. But let her enjoy her life. <laugh>. That's true. This is Speaker 0 00:28:32 True. But I always, you know, I find it, you know, very interesting. Especially cuz you guys met with us about a, I guess it's been two or three weeks ago now. Yeah. And I've got a lot of inspiration from you guys and you're an Iron Man triathlete, which just blows my mind that anybody that can, that can do that, but to see how you guys do life together, you guys do work together. I think that's really neat. And you said that you had a certain skill set, grant, and Rebecca, you've got a certain skillset set. Talk about those skill sets and how you guys kind of Speaker 2 00:29:02 Yeah. So brought Speaker 0 00:29:03 Those together. Speaker 2 00:29:04 When I, I first started investing before we even got married. And, and I read Rich Dad Poor Dad, which a lot of people say that's of course where they get their start from. Of course. Yeah. A lot. Uh, so I, you know, I bought my first house, rented out the rooms, did house hacking, which I didn't know was a thing back then. Um, and then after we got married, I wanted to buy more. So I started looking at this game called Cash Flow mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Right. It was made by Robert Kiosaki, correct, mm-hmm. <affirmative>. So I had her play it and I was trying to work her into, Hey look, this is a way to get us at quote outta the rat race is buying. Mm-hmm. Buying assets and having cash flow and stuff. And so I started getting her involved that way. And then we started buy, she saw the light basically, and then we started Speaker 3 00:29:50 Buying. Yeah, true. I wasn't that interested at first, but I appreciated that you really wanted to like, share it with me and you made a fun. And so even though he was still the driver at the beginning mm-hmm. <affirmative>, I was always included or invited to be included and that made me more interested subsequently. So that was kind of how it was early on. Speaker 2 00:30:13 And she's definitely a problem solver. So if I say, Hey, I have an issue, <laugh>, she'll come up with 50 different ways, <laugh> mm-hmm. <affirmative> and maybe one or two may work, but still, that's the way that, you know, she, you find she goes through mm-hmm. <affirmative> and, um, if I have an issue, I go to her and talk to her about it. So that's my skillset. I used to be an accountant, so I like the numbers. I like analyzing, looking at things such a, such a good background, estate investing. Um, so I, I like doing that. Um, I, I like looking at the numbers and then she, she likes a little bit different of the aspects of it. <laugh>. Speaker 3 00:30:45 Yeah. Well there's just so much to real estate. My route was long into actually becoming a real estate professional. How Speaker 0 00:30:54 Often do you guys just like, just like, throw down and get mad at one another? Speaker 3 00:30:58 So the good thing is, I do think it's important that we kind of do divide stuff up. So even in our role now, it took a while. We're still taking a while to kind of, we're learning it together and then doing some things together. But now it's more like, Hey, you do this, I'll do this. I am a little bit more systems oriented, problem solving, stuff Speaker 0 00:31:18 Like that, that is account, this is his account mentality. Just like eat at you sometimes and be like, oh my gosh, you're killing me. <laugh> Speaker 3 00:31:25 Sometimes I'm think, I mean, I'm in the decades now. I appreciate though, and we make Yeah. I, I make fun of him and say like, oh, it's tax time. Your it's favorite. Speaker 1 00:31:36 Awesome. Speaker 3 00:31:37 Two favorite. He's like, I'm gonna go work on getting the taxes stuff. I'm like, oh, your favorite thing that Speaker 1 00:31:43 He, when you argue, when you argue, do you just say, oh, go get in the numbers. Yeah, Speaker 3 00:31:47 There you go. <laugh>. Yeah, I think, like I said, when, when we're working together, we appreciate each other's separate skills. I, you know, let him do his thing. He lets me do my thing and we can just respect mm-hmm. Speaker 2 00:32:03 <affirmative>, we do have separate offices also that really helps out. I'm in the basement, that's a man cave basically. And then she's in the attic. So we're, except Speaker 3 00:32:12 For when we're traveling, we actually, were just trying to figure out exactly how to divide everything. <laugh>. Speaker 2 00:32:17 Yeah. Mm-hmm. Speaker 1 00:32:18 <affirmative>. Cause I, face wise, I have to admit, I've wondered because when I have something that's, you know, related to real wealth networker that I need to contact you to, I email you both. Oh yeah. <laugh>. And I think, do I, should I just email one? How does that stuff work? Speaker 3 00:32:35 Well, we're still figuring that part out. Yeah. Yeah. That it, it's actually helpful because then Speaker 2 00:32:39 It's helpful cause we what, we know what the other one is dealing with then, you know, like if it goes to both of us, we know, okay, this question came up. And then especially when we see the response, then we know, okay, that's been taken care of or that's, we know that it, that it's going the right way or whatnot. So it's nice to be able to be included on both <laugh>. Speaker 0 00:32:58 I have a feeling when they get, you Speaker 3 00:32:59 Communicate a lot just to make sure that like, yeah, okay, you do you wanna do that? And I ask, we ask each other, do you wanna do that? Yeah, I'll do this. But when there is disagreement, it, it's usually because I've butted in to something <laugh>. It's, Speaker 1 00:33:12 It's always his fault. Jimmy Buffett, <laugh>, Jimmy Buffett Speaker 3 00:33:16 Had the answer, or you know, Speaker 2 00:33:17 Or she's told me a whole bunch of times and I get told by somebody else and they say, oh yeah, that's a good idea's. Speaker 0 00:33:22 <laugh> <laugh>, Speaker 3 00:33:24 That always happens. Speaker 0 00:33:26 I got this, this picture in my mind that whenever you're sending an them an email that they're like in their travel trailer and they look at one another and just say, ah, it's Jim. Did Speaker 1 00:33:36 You see he emailed again? Speaker 3 00:33:40 Not at all. Speaker 0 00:33:41 He, that's right. Speaker 2 00:33:42 He Speaker 0 00:33:43 See, Speaker 2 00:33:43 He emailed again. Speaker 0 00:33:44 But I think it's really, really cool that you guys work so so well together. Yeah. Because you know, a lot of times, you know, it's the, the husband does this, the wife does this, they're kind of, you know, and I, I'm not the world's best at it, you know, there's, there's things that my wife has no idea. My wife jokes. Um, she who we, we had another couple over for dinner a couple years ago and the other couple said, is there an, is there a number that you guys are able to spend and not, um, you know, offend the other person, like on a, on a purchase. And my wife said, no, apparently not <laugh>. My, my husband just bought a million dollar apartment complex last week. Didn't say a thing too <laugh>. Well, I guess it's a million Speaker 2 00:34:24 Dollars I guess. There you go. That's work. That's different. That's, Speaker 0 00:34:30 That was a kind of a unique Speaker 2 00:34:31 Well, especially like our investments. Like I want her involved one in case anything ever happens to me, God forbid, I want her to be able to say, okay, this is what I'm going to be doing to make sure, because Speaker 3 00:34:44 You currently manage the Speaker 2 00:34:45 Property, because I manage all of our properties. I do, uh, you know, um, know all of them. So if, if something were to happen to me, then I know the tenants probably would stop paying <laugh>. Like, like, so I need her to be able to step in and kind of know what's Speaker 3 00:35:00 Going on. Speaker 2 00:35:00 They're out. It's good. Yeah. <laugh> <laugh>. So it's nice that she knows what's going on. And especially it's our, both of our future. I mean, especially real estate, you know, any investment property that we buy, it's both of our futures. So I want her to have a say. Yeah. Um, you know, she's not gonna say, oh yeah, you know, uh, and it's good for me to ask her like, Hey, I'm looking at this particular property, these are the numbers. What does that look like to you? And then maybe she might come up, well, this looks bad, that looks bad, or this looks great. Or <laugh>, whatever the case may be so that we can both have that. And, and Speaker 3 00:35:36 Yeah. Especially over the last few years, I guess it wasn't brought up yet. I was, has been working as a realtor, so at least four years or so mm-hmm. <affirmative> so that obviously I know a lot more <laugh> about what to look for, what we're dealing with, uh Right. Thrill that Speaker 1 00:35:51 You guys are, are truly living the dream and the goal of a lot of people who are listening because you had nine to five jobs, you know, were two different nine to five jobs. You both had your, uh, you know, previous lives to this and were able through real estate to free yourselves and to travel the country now. And, and you're blessed to have found this position that mm-hmm. <affirmative> allows it, but let's not kid ourselves. You were already there regardless of the position you were in, you had already through real estate become financially free. Yeah. And, and it's amazing now that you found a place to park yourselves that you can passionately share that information with a message that they're already sharing. And you're an example of that. You're literally an example of what Real Wealth is trying to help people become. And I think that's really neat. Um, that Real Wealth has a lot of folks on their staff who are living the dream, as they say. Yeah, yeah. Who are examples of what they preach. And I think it's, it makes it a lot more powerful for folks like you who have to go out there and do the grunt work of screening these groups. Yeah. Cause I know you get a lot of people calling you up saying, Hey, I, I fixed the house up. Yeah. Let, let me sell it to your Real Wealth network clients. Speaker 2 00:37:05 Yeah. Send me a send me a buyer <laugh>. Yes. Speaker 1 00:37:07 Send me a buyer. You know, I just wanna sell 'em a house. Speaker 2 00:37:10 It's like, that's not how it works all the time. Speaker 3 00:37:12 <laugh> sometimes just explaining our vetting process to those people. I never hear from them again. Really? Speaker 1 00:37:17 I'm not surprised. We used to joke that we've given everything except for a sample of Blood Speaker 3 00:37:22 <laugh> to get in fit. Ooh, that's next. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:37:24 There you go. Speaker 3 00:37:25 <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:37:26 But, but the, the screening is intense and it's not about just Rool isn't gonna connect you with some dude in, in Arkansas who wants to sell you his brothers and brother-in-law's house that he just fixed up. Yeah. These are professionals who provide great returning assets that have been, Speaker 2 00:37:40 It's, it's really about the relationship, right. With the relationship with the property teams. Because obviously we all know real estate and any business or anything you go into, there's gonna be issues. And how is the other team going? How's the property team gonna handle that issue? Um, because we're kind of a step away from things. So we want to know that that property team is gonna handle that situation or something that comes up in the right way. We don't want them to say, okay, yeah, screw you investor. You're, you're, you've already purchased it, you're done. You want somebody to be able to go in and say, okay, there's this issue. We're gonna come in and take care of it. We're gonna split it, whatever they, whatever the case may be within obviously within reason Speaker 1 00:38:25 Everyone can look good when things are going well. Yes. You know, and it's, it's truly about the going through the diversity. And, and as you can imagine with 12 years working with Real Wealth Network, we've had our share of of, of having to solve problems. It's just part of it. And it's always gonna happen. It's always going to happen. But, um, one of the things that we pride ourselves in is a, the fact that we've been with Real Wealth Network for so long, and b, the fact that Real Wealth network values people like us who run to the problem. Yeah. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> because there will be problems. Real wealth doesn't just go, oh, there's a problem with that real estate. We're done with these people. Yeah, no, they want you to fix it because that's what we're Yeah. That's the whole point of us. Yeah. It's to make real estate suck a little less Speaker 3 00:39:07 <laugh>. Yeah. And it's not just about one property, it's about buying multiple. Right. And so many of the investors who've purchased with you end up coming back to buy more and more and more. And that's what we're really happy to facilitate is that ongoing growth for all the investors. Speaker 2 00:39:24 We really don't want our members just to buy one property. I mean, we want them to create like that, like you said, like that lifestyle one property isn't going to change your life. 10, 15, 20 definitely will change your life. Right. So have making sure that you create that relationship with one the property teams because they're the ones that are on the ground dealing with more of the issues and or the clients more often. The members more often. That's who we wanna make sure is, is doing a good job and, and that they're representing real wealth as well. Speaker 1 00:39:59 Yeah. We, we have a series that's that's, it's perfect. It's what is needed. And we have this series on TikTok that we do where we pull an investment that we sold one of our clients 15, 18, 20 years ago. And we look at the numbers now and we find out, oh yeah. If they have a mortgage, laughter, if they've paid it off. And we've got a lot of clients who are pretty aggressive with eliminate eliminating debt, which isn't very popular right now. Everybody believes in over or leverage and all of that, which that's a lot of arguments, right? Yeah. <laugh>. But, but it's amazing real estate in 20 years what it can do. Your tenant has paid that mortgage off for you. Yeah. Um, in many cases, or at least paid it down to almost nothing. You've made all of that rental income, you've captured appreciation and before you know it, that $20,000 town payment, we see a time and again where it's 200,000 plus, I mean, it's almost constantly $200,000 plus. And yes, 20 years is maybe a long time, but time's that by 10 and you're living, what you guys are living 20 Speaker 2 00:40:57 Is, is a 401k. Right. If you're 20 years old and you're putting money into a four <unk> that you're probably not gonna see or an IRA that you're not gonna see for another 20 years. I mean, that's kind of the way I look at most of our rental properties is that that's not my 401k right there. That, I mean, that's my retirement. Right. You know, but you can Speaker 1 00:41:15 Do both and you can leverage real estate. Yes. You can't leverage, leverage your investment in, in 401k. So on paper you stack 'em up next to each other and real estate out shines every day of the week. You know, we, we, I I could, yeah. I I obviously I can get, get off on this tangent all day. <laugh> and, and comparing these and the um, the, you know, the freedom that real estate has given the four people at this table mm-hmm. <affirmative> is, it's unbelievable. It's, it's amazing the power of that real estate and time. Speaker 3 00:41:44 And that's actually, uh, real wealth. It's not just about the money, it's about the lifestyle as we've kind of alluded to here. It's very specific about being able to live your life freely on your own terms. And having real estate is a catalyst to help get anyone there. Speaker 2 00:42:03 There is a real wealth test on there, um, on the website. I don't know if you guys have worked at, I haven't. Speaker 2 00:42:08 But it's, it's basically like how No, it's more about like how your lifestyle is and how either, how your lifestyle is and how wealthy you are. Cuz it's not always, like Rebecca said, it's not always about the money, it's about how your lifestyle is. Right. Like, if you have a traditional job where you have to go every single day, then you are lifestyle may be a little bit different than if you had the ability to not, or have enough cash flow coming in, or where you didn't have to worry about going to your job every single day. Your life would be a little bit different. Right. Maybe a little bit less stressful or something like that. Right. So there is an assessment on online, you should check it out. It's pretty cool going to Yeah. Speaker 1 00:42:51 I find it fascinating, you know, once you get to, it's such a luxury to get to that point in life where you can literally make choices based on only what you want to do. And it's, it's not a position many people in this world can do. Yeah. And it's what everyone dreams of being able to do and the steps to get there are even simpler than any of us realize. It's, it's simple savings habits. You don't have to be a high earner and it's making smart decisions and some sacrifices along the way to reach some goals, but you gotta have a plan and you've gotta look at real estate. Yeah. Oh yeah. Real estate has to be a part of that. It simply does. We talk about that stat that 90% of millionaires became millionaires through real estate and that a little not true because they had other meetings besides, Speaker 2 00:43:37 They had the businesses Speaker 1 00:43:38 Also besides that. But real estate was a part of 90% of people becoming real estate and there's a reason behind that. Yeah. And, um, I, I mean I just can't preach it enough. You guys are an amazing example of that, of the dedication to a plan and getting these board games for your wife to try to get her to see what you're seeing. Yeah. And then her buying into it. And from what I can tell, she hit the gas pedal <laugh> and you're just, you're just doing the books behind the scenes <laugh> from what I can tell. So it's a neat, it's a really neat story and it's very inspiring and I hope folks who are listening, uh, realize that they can do exactly what you did. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. And there's some tools, real wealth.com, check out the homeboys podcast.com. There's all kinds of tools out there, but you just gotta start learning. Yep. And come up with a plan and it's easier than you think. Yep. Talk Speaker 0 00:44:27 About something that's not very easy. Are you training for an Iron Man right now? Speaker 2 00:44:31 Yes, I am, uh, training right now for Ironman, California. Um, that'll be my fourth Ironman <laugh> in 10 months. And that's in 10 months. It's in, explain Speaker 1 00:44:40 Again what an Ironman is for anyone that Speaker 2 00:44:42 Doesn't know. An Ironman is a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and then a marathon, 26.2, uh, run afterwards. And Oh, in one day you have to Yeah, <laugh> one, get Speaker 1 00:44:55 Me a boat and a car. I would still be exhausted. Speaker 0 00:44:59 <laugh>. Speaker 2 00:45:00 Uh, but you know, she goes out and spectate pretty much every race that I, it's a chore, Speaker 0 00:45:05 Quite a training Speaker 2 00:45:06 To spectate as well. I always, I'm always like, I don't know that I could be the spectator. I'd rather be the racer than the Spectator because that sounds, um, just awful just to sit around and watch somebody ride by <laugh>. I Speaker 0 00:45:19 Kind of looked into like the training for an Iron Man and um, our attorney actually here is an Iron Man triathlete. I spoke to you about that, you know, off the air, but you know, you have to have an amazing wife behind the scenes to support you in those endeavors. Yes. Because I mean, you know, it's 10 months that you're training for this and I dunno, I think it just speaks to, to the couple that you, that you guys are and you know, it's inspiring to me. It's, you know, I've really enjoyed getting to know you guys and I'm gonna be following your training because like I'm enamored, uh, with people that are able to do that. How's that physically possible <laugh>? Like how is that physically? I got, I, I, I did three and a half miles on a treadmill earlier and ready to die, but, uh, you know, you attacked life, you know, with your real estate investments and everything and we really admire you and we appreciate you guys coming on today.
